What is LCR?
Least Cost Routing (LCR) involves the routing of calls via CalteQ, either by programming the PABX or using equipment such as multi-line diallers. Both methods do the same thing, which is to insert a prefix to the number dialled instructing the local exchange to route the call to its destination over the chosen network.
Whilst this method of routing calls has been superceded by CPS, there is still a strong case for it in certain areas. A business may select LCR when they wish to be selective in the destinations and carriers they use, or where they wish to use more than one carrier for their calls. Some businesses prefer LCR as they feel they have greater control over their calls in the event of a network fault. LCR is used to reduce call costs and historically has been successful in doing so.
