Carrier Pre-Select

What is CPS?

Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS) is a service whereby businesses with BT (or Kingston Communications) telephone lines can choose to route their outbound calls via a telecom carrier of their choosing.  To do so does not require the use of PIN numbers or any equipment, nor is PABX programming required. This is generally done to drive down costs.

The business has the choice of which calls to route; the options are National Calls, International Calls, National and International Calls or All Calls. In our experience the vast majority of businesses that use CPS, choose the all calls option. Using CPS means that the customer will receive a bill from BT (or Kingston) covering their line rental costs together with the call charges for those calls not captured via CPS. In addition they will receive a bill for the calls carried via CPS from Calteq. Customers should note that even when selecting the "all calls" option, certain categories of calls will still be routed over BT (or Kingston). Full details of these exceptions together with a comprehensive overview of Carrier Pre-Selection are available on the OFCOM web site.
